1. What inspired you to write your book and how did the idea come to life?
For many years, I witnessed gender discrimination within the church, women are secondary, no teaching by women, their gifts overlooked, and their callings limited. These teachings have led many into quiet discouragement and depression. Through the Word of Christ, I want to release the truth and expose this injustice, pride, and arrogance.
Ephesians 2:10 says we are all God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works; Galatians 3:28 proclaimed our equality female and male in Christ; Romans 16 revealed women serving boldly in Christ’s ministry; and Matthew 23:8 and 20:28, we are all brothers in Christ and serve one another and are not to be served. God’s Masterpiece was written to awaken Christian solders by the truth that we are designed for God’s Masterpiece.
2. Can you share your initial goals for publishing your book?
This message does not focus on the church but it is for women everywhere. Christ released women’s calling and dignity over 2,000 years ago. In Acts 2:17−18 on the day of Pentecost, Peter boldly proclaimed by the Spirit, and in Romans 16, we see both women and men moving dynamically by the Spirit for the gospel of the Kingdom.
Yet over time, pagan influences, Jewish laws, and patriarchal teachings, mixed with the gospel and limited the gospel of the Truth of what Christ accomplished on the cross by His Blood and Water.
3. What made you choose Gatekeeper Press as your publishing partner? How did the experience meet or exceed your expectations?
I chose Gatekeeper Press because of their biblical name, inspired by John 10:3, 9. Our contact Tony provided thorough explanations, and their marketing approach promises bestseller potential. Kelly Santiago’s excellent management and coordination impressed me greatly. Overall, the entire team’s professionalism and dedication confirmed they were the right publishing partner for God’s Masterpiece.
4. How would you describe the process of working with Gatekeeper Press, from manuscript submission to publication?
Gatekeeper Press used Monday.com, which was marvelous for tracking the process. We could clearly see each step, who was responsible, and what was coming next. Kelly’s management was outstanding, combining professionalism with a caring heart. She ensured smooth handoffs between team members and maintained clear communication throughout. This organized and thoughtful approach made the entire publication process seamless and reassuring.
5. What challenges did you encounter during your publishing journey, and how did Gatekeeper press assist in overcoming them?
One softcover book company produced not defined cuts and many speckles on the covers, which was concerning. Kelly provided an excellent solution by recommending a hardcover printer, ensuring clean, uniform results. Thanks to her guidance, the process is now moving smoothly. I feel confident that God’s Masterpiece will have a professional, high-quality finish.
6. Were there any aspects of the publishing process that surprised you or differed from what you initially expected??
This is my second book, and compared to my first, I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing, very reasonable, profitable, and fair. Gatekeeper Press also focused extensively on marketing and social media, showing genuine care for the book’s success. Luis created promotional videos that were calm, spiritual, and easy to understand, which brought me great joy. Overall, the experience felt professional, supportive, and up lifting.
7. How do you hope readers will receive your book, and what do you hope readers will retain from it?
I hope readers will experience a deep renewal of understanding through Scripture, seeing God’s design and purpose in a full and detailed way. Even though I read the Bible over 100 times in college, it was through life experience and observing the church’s missteps that I gained deeper insight. God’s Masterpiece shares these revelations, helping readers grasp God’s perspective more clearly and inspiring them to embrace their calling with confidence. The book is meant to awaken a lasting awareness of their worth, purpose, and potential in God’s eyes.
8. What was your favorite part of the publishing experience with Gatekeeper Press?
Although the book is not yet published, my favorite part of working with Gatekeeper Press is seeing their marketing strategy. I love how they plan to make this book successful, reaching many readers so that God’s message can be spread widely. I hope it will inspire, encourage, and strengthen people, helping them to find the meaning of human life and to release their spirit for gaining more of Christ. Their dedication to promoting the book gives me great confidence and excitement for its impact.
9. Would you recommend Gatekeeper Press to other authors? Why or why not?
Yes, of course! I was very impressed by Solaja, who worked day and night on the book cover, his dedication and attention to detail, even in his glasses picture, stood out. The editors were equally inspiring, offering clear suggestions and working tirelessly until I was fully satisfied. Their thoughtful, caring hearts and excellent work make me confident that God’s Masterpiece will reach its full potential as a bestseller.
10. What advice would you give to aspiring authors considering self-publishing their work??
I don’t fully agree with authors publishing entirely independently, because no one is perfect and we all lack expertise in certain areas. By humbly working with others, editors, designers, marketers, and publishing professionals, we can ensure every part of the book is done well and legally. Collaboration allows each person’s gift to contribute to a greater purpose. Together, we can create a book that glorifies God and reaches its full potential. We truly need one another in this process.
