What inspired you to  write your book and how did the idea come to life?

I started thinking about all the issues I have faced from family, money, health, loss of a mother and I decided to write down all the events and that is when I thought about writing a book as I could see this turning into a fascinating story. What started just as a journal has turned into a book! What inspired me was the drive to let people know that just because you have had an accident and modern medicine does not have a treatment does not mean you do not have any options. There is alternative treatments which can help you and I have mentioned 2 such treatments (Ayurveda and Homeopathy) to tell people the difference and benefits of both. So I wanted to spread awareness for alternative treatments. Also, wanted to inform people how dangerous boxing can be.

2. Can you share your initial goals for publishing your book?

Initially, the goal was just to let people know the two messages listed above. I wanted to spread awareness.

3. What made you choose Gatekeeper Press as your publishing partner? How did the experience meet or exceed your expectations?

I looked at many publishing houses, and I chose Gatekeeper Press because, firstly, I retain all rights to my book, so I do not have to give them up. It is my story, and that was important to me to retain the rights. Secondly, they were really honest and upfront about the whole process, timelines, and royalties, which I really appreciated as nothing was left for me to guess. There is an honest and transparent process, which I really liked.

4. How would you describe the process of working with Gatekeeper Press, from manuscript submission to publication?

The process was really easy. I was prompted and informed at each and every step. So, I understood the process, and they exceeded my expectations as far as timelines go.

5. What challenges did you encounter during your publishing journey, and how did Gatekeeper press assist in overcoming them?

As this is my first book, I was unfamiliar with the process and faced numerous unknowns. I was doubtful that the publishing house would appreciate my knowledge level as far as publishing goes and hold my hand through this journey but Gatekeeper Press has definitely held my hand through this journey and I am very grateful for all the help.

6. Were there any aspects of the publishing process that surprised you or differed from what you initially expected??

There were things I hadn’t thought about, like the trim size. When Gatekeeper asked me this question, I was thinking, ‘I have no idea.’ That shows you my level of knowledge as far as publishing goes but Gatekeeper Press was really helpful

7. How do you hope readers will receive your book, and what do you hope readers will retain from it?

I have no idea how well the book will be received, but I hope that the underlying message is prominent and well-understood.

8. What was your favorite part of the publishing experience with Gatekeeper Press?

I really appreciated the transparency of the team’s communication. I could see the updates on Monday.com, so I was assured that I had not been forgotten and that work was in progress.

9. Would you recommend Gatekeeper Press to other authors? Why or why not?

Definitely! The process was really easy, and they took care of everything!

10. What advice would you give to aspiring authors considering self-publishing their work??

Write your thoughts down, and do your best at editing, but do not worry, as Gatekeeper Press will proofread all your work and walk you through it all. I would also recommend they go with Gatekeeper Press, as I cannot thank the team enough for all their hard work. Appreciate it!
