What inspired you to  write your book and how did the idea come to life?

I am somewhat of thinker/problem solver by looking at situations from a non-conventional lens.  I realized that there or tens of thousands of “How to be the best at….sales and leadership books, but not many from the introspective view of sharing true stories of being  “very worst” can create humor, insights, and eventually a path forward.

2. Can you share your initial goals for publishing your book?

As a first-time author, my primary goal was simply to start—and finish—the project. That alone was a personal milestone. I wanted to create something honest, built from my own real-life experiences, that validated each chapter with truth and vulnerability. More importantly, I aimed to write a book that didn’t follow the traditional playbook of sales literature. I wanted it to feel different: more relatable, more human, and definitely more fun.

3. What made you choose Gatekeeper Press as your publishing partner? How did the experience meet or exceed your expectations?

Not knowing anything about the publishing industry I talked with many companies from full-service publishers to pure self publishing companies.  I chose Gatekeeper Press because they were patient with me, informed me about the process, and had a high value exchange for my investment.  Also their follow up is A+

4. How would you describe the process of working with Gatekeeper Press, from manuscript submission to publication?

Very good and efficient.  Team communicates well over the “Monday” tool and delivers on what they say they will do.

5. What challenges did you encounter during your publishing journey, and how did Gatekeeper press assist in overcoming them?

Working through manuscript changes were minor issues, but the team did a great job of proofing and editing to make it right.  As non author this was helpful to me, and I trusted the team to do the right thing and they did.

6. Were there any aspects of the publishing process that surprised you or differed from what you initially expected??

I had no expectations going in as I had no experience.

7. How do you hope readers will receive your book, and what do you hope readers will retain from it?

To measure success of this book it would be that people find the title and cover interesting enough to pick it up.  From there a good laugh or two and maybe a story that resonates with them from the readers past experiences.   Ultimately if they find the book more outside of the mainstream of books and get some help takeaways they can use to improve their sales and leadership craft, that would be very nice.

8. What was your favorite part of the publishing experience with Gatekeeper Press?

The comments from the editors and proofreaders.  They really dug into the manuscript, and I enjoyed their honest feedback.  It also showed me they truly spent time with the manuscript.

9. Would you recommend Gatekeeper Press to other authors? Why or why not?

Definitely! The process was really easy, and they took care of everything!

10. What advice would you give to aspiring authors considering self-publishing their work??

Be patient and don’t overlook the small details.
