Editing Services

Developmental Edit + Copy Edit + Proofread $55 per 1,000 words

We evaluate the manuscript at a macro level, focusing on its overall structure, organization, coherence, and effectiveness. We review the quality and consistency of the writing, addressing areas such as tone, voice, transitions, clarity, pacing, complexity, and overall flow. For fiction titles, we assess elements such as plot structure, character development and consistency, dialogue, pacing, conflict, and potential plot holes or inconsistencies. We provide recommendations for restructuring or revising portions of the manuscript where needed to strengthen the overall work. Developmental edits focus primarily on big-picture edits and recommendations for author revision.

Includes the following three rounds of edits:
1. One Developmental Edit
2. One Copy Edit (see description below)
3. One Post-Production Proofread (see description below)

Copy Edit + Proofread $35 per 1,000 words

We provide a comprehensive, line-by-line technical review of the manuscript, addressing spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, sentence structure, capitalization, word usage, and other language-related issues. We also check for consistency in matters of style, such as abbreviations, numbers, hyphenation, capitalization, terminology, and formatting conventions. Minor recommendations may be made to improve clarity, readability, and flow while preserving the author’s voice and intended meaning. The goal is to deliver a polished, technically sound manuscript ready for typesetting and layout.

Includes two rounds of edits:
1. One Copy Edit
2. One Post-Production Proofread (see description below)

Proofread $25 per 1,000 words

We examine your manuscript for major text and formatting issues. We identify and rectify grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling errors. This review is narrower in scope than our copy edit service, but will ensure a polished manuscript ready for publication.

Includes two rounds of edits:
1. One Proofread before layout and formatting
2. One Post-Production Proofread

How it Works

Once you sign up, you will be assigned a U.S.-based Author Manager who will be available to you via email and phone to ensure your complete satisfaction.

We Professionally Edit Your Book

Our professional editors go through your manuscript with a fine-toothed comb to prepare it for publication. Our editors may ask you specific questions while going through your manuscript and you will be able to ask them questions if you like. You will be able to review and accept or reject each edit made to your manuscript.

Once you approve all of the edits our editors have made to your manuscript, your book will be ready for publication.

How long does your Editing and Proofreading process take?

This depends on the word count and complexity of your file(s). We are typically able to return even the longest and most complex files to you within four weeks.

Do you edit by hand or through Microsoft Word?

We edit using Microsoft Word’s “track changes” feature to allow you to accept or reject each individual edit we make to your file(s). If you are unfamiliar with this feature, your Author Manager will guide you through it.

Can I have my book edited even if I don’t have you publish it?

Absolutely. You can have us edit your book a la carte or as part of one of our publishing packages.
